Jammu, Aug 03: Authorities today relaxed curfew for nine hours in some localities of Kishtwar town of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir which was rocked by communal clashes and violence on Friday, following no report of any untoward incident since yesterday, police sources said here.
The relaxation has been given from 0600 hours to 1500 hours in areas between bus stand and Dakbunglow in the town following improvement in the situation, the sources said.
No untoward incident has been reported from anywhere in the town since yesterday, they said adding relaxation may be given in other areas of the town later.

However police and para-military troops continued to remain deployed in the sensitive areas of the town to maintain law and order, the official said.
Curfew was clamped in Kishtwar after communal clashes erupted on August one in which thirteen people, including two officials, were injured. Seven shops and other structures were burnt and twelve shops were looted.



Army had also conducted flag marches in the town for some hours after clashes between members of two communities during the BJP-sponsored bandh in protest against the stepped up activities of militants in Nagfani-Puller areas of Kishtwar in the district.
