3Com allowed to participate in Cisco-Huawei suit
Chicago, July 09: Networking equipment maker 3Com Corp. can participate in Cisco Systems Inc.`s lawsuit against 3Com`s joint venture partner Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., a federal judge has ruled.
Chicago, July 09: Networking equipment maker 3Com Corp. can participate in Cisco Systems Inc.'s lawsuit against 3Com's joint venture partner Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., a federal judge has ruled.
US district court judge T. John Ward late on Monday ruled that 3Com is "entitled to intervene." He added, however, that the case's schedule will be unaffected by 3Com's entry.
Cisco, the world's largest maker of networking equipment, sued privately held Huawei in January, alleging the Chinese rival copied its intellectual property, documents and other copyrighted material, and infringed on several company patents.
3Com and Huawei in March announced an agreement to form a joint venture to make networking gear for corporate customers. The venture is expected to be fully operational in 3Com's second fiscal quarter, which ends in November.
3Com, based in Santa Clara, California, already has begun selling Huawei gear under the 3Com brand name. Bureau Report
