New Delhi, June 27: With assembly polls a few months away, Delhi BJP and the Congress government today engaged in politicking over power tariff hike, with the opposition party alleging "fraud" and "appeasement" of private distributing companies and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Rubbishing it. Flaying the hike announced by Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) yesterday, Delhi BJP president Madan Lal Khurana alleged at a press conference that the raise had been "influenced" by the city government to give "undue benefit" to the private distribution companies. "The entire matter is a conspiracy for increasing the electricity rates by presenting false and concocted documents and Delhi government is a party to this," Khurana alleged.
He claimed the congress government had engineered the hike so that the ruling party could "use the money for elections."

Demanding withdrawal of the hike, he said his party would make it one of the major poll issues by raising it during the 'Satyagraha' from July one and 'Nyay Yatra' from August 15. He said if his party came to power in the elections, it will review the hike.
