Dhaka, Dec 08: Threats of attacks have forced Bangladesh's Ambassador to Iraq to abandon the war-ravaged country and operate from neighbouring Jordan, a government minister said today.
“Ambassador Sarwar Hossain Mollah is discharging his responsibilities from Jordan following threats of attacks as well as indiscriminate rocket and missile firings in
Baghdad," state Minister for Foreign Affairs Reaz Rahman told the country’s official news agency.
Another four diplomats at the embassy have also moved, the minister said.
The move was "temporary" but the "overall security situation in Baghdad remains fraught with a fear of uncertainty," he said.
The agency said the threats had been made to the embassy recently, but it provided no details.
