New Delhi, Oct 12: Army Chief N C Vij today said installation of surveillance devices along Line of Control coupled with intensified patrolling had resulted in foiling a record number of infiltration bids in Jammu and Kashmir. Winding up a three-day visit to the border state, he complimented army, BSF and police personnel for their "untiring and relentless efforts" in fighting terrorism, an army release said here.

Vij also reviewed progress on selective fencing being undertaken on LoC. He also met Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to discuss the security situation in the state and reviewed the conduct of counter-insurgency operations.
