Ahmedabad, June 29: Panchmahals district police has registered a case of fraud allegedly committed by the son of a senior minister in the Gujarat government, officials said here today. An automobile dealer has registered a complaint against Umesh Chauhan, son of minister of state for cow protection and tourism, Prabhatsinh Chauhan, alleging that the accused did not pay for a car he had bought from him on installments, police said.

Umesh had allegedly bought car from r b motors on June 2 after paying a token amount of Rs 10,000 and assured to pay the remaining amount of Rs 2,47,882 for the vehicle in the coming days.

Amit Patel, the complainant, alleged that Umesh, however, did not pay the installments and on being confronted much after the given deadline, abused him and threatened to use his father's clout, sources said.
Police was instructed to investigate into the matter and register a complaint after the complainant approached the Godhra civil court alleging fraud.
Police have registered an offence and are investigating into the matter.
