Dehra Dun, June 10: Taking serious note of alleged ill treatment meted to Uttaranchal House Committee members during a recent visit to Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines, the state government has ordered a high-level inquiry and transferred a District Magistrate, official sources said. The action came after committee members headed by Speaker Yashpal Arya met Chief Minister N D Tiwari yesterday and lodged a strong protest against the ill treatment meted out to them by senior officials during the pilgrimage to ‘Char Dham’, they said.
Submitting a written complaint, the Speaker told Tiwari that no government accommodation was provided to them during their stay in Srinagar, the district headquarters of Pauri district
Arya also alleged that the behaviour of the most of the officials on the yatra route was "rude".
Tourism Minister Lt Gen (Retd) T P S Rawat has asked Tourism Secretary N N Prasad to hold the inquiry and submit his report at the earliest in the matter.
Meanwhile, the DM of Pauri, Deepak Rai Vij has been removed from his post.
Harish Chandra Joshi, the secretary in Panchayati Raj department would swap the post with Vij, sources said. Manager of the Srinagar rest house, J P Khanduri has also been transferred to Dehra Dun, they said.
