Jammu, Sep 01: Pakistani troops today shelled mortars bombs and opened fire in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu sectors of Jammu and Kashmir injuring one jawan, official sources said here. The troops from across the line of control fired mortar bombs from 5.30 am. This morning in Kalal, Baba Khour, Kalsian, Bhawani, Dhargloon, Jallas, Balakote, Jangard and Mendhar areas of Poonch and Rajouri sectors, the sources said. One jawan was injured in Pakistani shelling and later hospitalised in Baba Khour area, the sources said, adding Indian troops retaliated. "The exchanges were still on when reports last came in from the area," the sources said and added there were no reports about damage caused to other side. Pakistani rangers also fired from small arms along international border in R S Pura, samba and Ramgarh areas today without any causality, the sources said.


Two rooms, a booster and a tower of TV tower complex were damaged in Pakistani shelling yesterday in Balakote, they said, adding, however, no one was injured.


A BSF jawan and a youth were killed yesterday in Pakistani shelling in Poonch and three people were killed and eight injured on may 29 in the same area, the sources said.


As many as eight persons were killed and 17 injured in shelling from across the border in these areas during last one week, the sources said.


"Pak troops are trying to disrupt fencing along LoC, which was aimed to stop infiltration into J&K, they added.
