Paris, June 24: Jodie Foster is in negotiations to take an uncredited role in "Amelie" director Jean-Pierre Jeunet's French-language romantic drama "Un Long dimanche de fiancailles" (A Very Long Engagement), production sources said Monday. The $50 million movie, set during World War I, is due to start shooting in early August. Foster, who speaks French, is expected to work two weeks on the film. She has reportedly wanted to work with a French director for some time.
"Amelie" star Audrey Tautou is set to play the lead role in the film, which recounts a young woman's efforts to establish the grim truth about her fiance, who was pushed into no man's land as a punishment for trying to escape the trenches. French actor Gaspard Ulliel, who recently starred in Andre Techine's Cannes Competition entry "Les Egares" (Strayed), is in negotiations to play the male lead.
The film is being produced by the French outpost of Warner Bros.
