46 serving, 17 former army personnel booked for links with ISI

Among the serving army personnel, services of six have been terminated and disciplinary proceedings completed against three, defence minister George Fernandes said in a written reply.
Disciplinary proceedings, general court martial and investigations in respect of the remaining 32 are in progress, he said adding that the cases in respect of former army personnel are being investigated by the state police authorities concerned. Submarines: The original proposal to build submarines based on design of German company HDW and modified to suit Indian naval requirements was shelved mainly due to non-availability of required weapon system which was to be acquired from a French company, Fernandes said.
