Chennai, Sept 13: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would soon convene a meeting of the Cauvery River Water authority in Delhi after consulting the chief ministers of all the riparian states. This was assured by the Prime Minister to DMK president M Karunanidhi when the later met him at the corporate Apollo hospitals, where Union Minister Murasoli Maran is undergoing treatment.

Karunanidhi told newsmen that he had raised the Cauvery issue with the prime minister during his 20-minute stay at the hospital.

The former chief minister also appraised the hardships being faced by Cauvery delta farmers on account of the non-release of water by Karnataka, while pleading for a meeting of the CRA.
