London, July 30: South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis will miss the second cricket test against England which starts at Lord's tomorrow, team spokesman Gerald de Kock said today. But he said Kallis would be back in time for the third test of the five-match series, which starts at Trent Bridge on August 14.
Kallis, 27, a world-class player, returned to South Africa, after playing in the Proteas' triangular series final defeat against England earlier this month, to be with his Father Henry, who died of cancer last week.
"Jacques Kallis will not be joining the squad for the second test," de Knock told.
"We don't know yet when he will be rejoining us but he will be back before the third test."
De Kock added that pace bowling all-rounder Andrew Hall, a member of South Africa's one-day tour party but not originally included in the test squad, had been called up by the Proteas.
Hall, who will turn 28 tomorrow, has been playing county cricket in England for Worcestershire.
South Africa drew the first test which concluded at Edgbaston on Monday.
During the match players from both sides wore black armbands in memory of Henry Kallis.
