Kathua (Jammu), Oct 19: Over 10,000 patients from far-flung areas have been treated at a three-day health camp organised by Jammu and Kashmir Health Department at Basohli in Kathua district. The patients were provided medicines worth Rs five lakh free of cost at the camp, which concluded last evening, officials said, adding the working of the surgical departments of the camp has been extended for two more days for conducting eye and laproscopy operations keeping in view the heavy rush of patients.
The camp, which was inaugurated by Minister of Health and Medical Education, Choudhary Lal Singh on October 16, treated patients under the medicine systems of ayurvedic, allopathic, unani and homopathic.
The Health Department had provided the services of 24 super specialists, 20 assistant surgeons and more than 100 para-medical staffers.
The doctors at the camp conducted 106 operations of laproscopy and 180 opeprations of eye disorders. Besides, 738 ultrasound, 247 laboratory tests were conducted and 210 x-rays taken in the camp free of cost.
The Directorate of Health Services had also set up stalls on leprosy, malaria, aids and tuberculosis.
Several government departments, including Department of Field publicity, agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, District Industries Centres, Sarva Shiksha Abhyan and ICDs had also set up their stalls at the camp.
