Indore, Nov 15: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today said chargesheet against former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and members of his family in the alleged graft cases would be filed in the court next week. "The chargesheet will be filed in the court next week in the corruption cases amounting to Rs 3,500 crore and the decision to arrest him in this regard would depend on the decision of the court," Singh told reporters at the Indore Press Club here.
The Chief Minister, who is here on an election tour, said he decided to approach the court first after completing the investigations so as to prevent any issue being made out of Badal's arrest.
"And now, depending on the court's decision, further action in the case would be taken," he said.
The Vigilance Bureau had registered a disproportionate assets case against Badal, his wife Surinder Kaur, son Sukhbir Singh Badal and others in June last.
Reiterating his allegations that Badal's government "was involved in corruption and has benefitted its own men," Singh specially cited the example of the state public service commission (PCS) which allegedly selected persons for various posts "by taking money from the aspirants".
Claiming that his government has arrested nearly 400 people, including nine minister's of earlier Akali Dal government for indulging in corrupt practices, he said steps are needed at all levels to check corruption. Bureau Report
