Lucknow, Sept 30: Former Uttar Pradesh minister Amarmani Tripathi's police remand was today extended till October 5 by a special court here which posted the hearing on his bail application for October 6. Tripathi, who was remanded to CBI custody on September 23 after his arrest in poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case, was produced in the court of special judicial magistrate (CBI) R M Yadav on the expiry of his remand at 2 pm today.

The CBI moved an application before the court seeking an extension of his police remand by five days.

The magistrate allowed the application after hearing the CBI and the defence counsels.
Earlier in the day, the court fixed October 6 for hearing the bail application of Tripathi.
