Quake jolts northern Japan

An undersea earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale jolted northern Japan, the meteorological agency said. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. The focus of the quake, which occurred at 1315 IST, was located 50 kilometers under the seabed off Iwate, 500 kilometers north of Tokyo, the agency said.
