Bhubaneswar, Dec 05: The controversial Judeo tapes had its echo in the Orissa assembly today as the opposition Congress stalled the proceedings of the house demanding that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should come under the purview of the inquiry being conducted by the CBI into the matter. Demanding that the matter should be discussed immediately by suspending the question hour, the Congress members stormed into the well of the house trying to disrupt the proceedings.
Though the speaker, Sarat Kumar Kar initially said that he would hear them after the question hour was over, he later relented and wanted the leader of opposition, Ramakanta Mishra to make his point. Mishra said since the Chief Minister's name had been mentioned in the videotape, he should come under the purview of the CBI's investigation.
He was heard saying, that the house would not be allowed to function unless the Congress demand was accepted. The Chief Minister should himself ask the CBI to investigate into it and come clean on this issue, he said. The speaker first adjourned the house for thirty minutes and when the house reassembled remarked that the matter had already been handed over to the CBI.
The matter has also gone to the people of Chhattisgarh where elections have been completed and why should we get into the issue when the centre is already investigating, he said.He then adjourned the house for lunch recess. Bureau Report
