Sun City, Nov 27: The Nedbank Challenge golf tournament has become a bigger affair in its 23rd year. The 12-man field has been expanded to 18, and the previous $2 million first prize has been trimmed to a still healthy $1.2 million.
The field has been enriched by the presence of top American players, who have previously not been willing to make the long Southern African safari at the end of a hard year.
While David Toms withdrew with an injury, the presence of Charles Howell III, Fred Funk, Jay Haas, Kenny Perry, Chris DiMarco and Jerry Kelly adds intrigue for a gallery which has been dying to see players of their caliber in an intimate format.
