2002 hit-and-run case: SC admits Maharashtra govt's appeal challenging Salman Khan's acquittal

New Delhi: Trouble doesn’t seem to end for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case. The Supreme Court has now reportedly admitted Maharashtra government's appeal challenging Salman's acquittal in the case by Bombay High Court.

As per ANI, the court has refused to put the hearing on fast-track. "If you want the hearing on fast track, you can approach the CJI for the same," SC bench headed by Justice Khehar was quoted as saying.

On December 10 last year, the 50-year-old actor was given a clean chit in the case with the Bombay High Court observing that the main witness was 'wholly unreliable' and that there were discrepancies in the case.

The Maharashtra government then filed a fresh appeal in the Supreme Court.

The actor is accused of driving a car under the influence of alcohol. The accident killed one and injured four others in Bandra, Mumbai, in 2002.
