A leading US daily calls Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar a 'so-called playback singer'

New Delhi: Tanmay Bhat's snapchat video joke about Indian legends Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar has grabbed the attention of the international media too.

However, a leading US daily seems to have hurt the sentiments of people while reporting this issue.

You will be shocked to know that the 86-year-old musical genius or the 'Nightingale of India', also a Bharat Ratna, was referred to as a 'so-called playback singer' in a NY Times report. The report further states that her career dates to the 1940s.

The snapchat joke issue escalated when the the AIB co-founder mocked two of India's most loved figures in a video.

Tanmay has drawn flak from various quarters but there has been no dearth of support for him either.
