Kanpur, June 19: The station house officer of Chaubepur police station near here has been arrested by intelligence sleuths while accepting a bribe in connection with a dowry death case, police said today. Sources said a women Shashi, who got married to one Rakesh of Biroha village five years ago, died on June 2 and her parents reportedly made an agreement with the in-laws after making allegations of dowry death.

The police officer came to know about the agreement and demanded Rs 10,000 from the in-laws of the deceased.
Following a complaint by Shashi's brother, intelligence slueths caught the official red-handed while accepting money at Chaubepur police station yesterday.

The arrested officer, Dhyan Singh Chauhan, has been sent to jail, police said.
