Chennai, Jun 01: The country's first women police commando unit, equipped to handle any threat or violence, will be commissioned here tomorrow by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. As many as 151 policewomen, drawn from all parts of the state, comprise the unit. Trained in all aspects of horse riding, weapon handling, driving, swimming, para sailing and winch sailing, these young women can handle any emergency situation with aplomb and competence, be it a terrorist attack or a bomb threat, according to police sources. The chief minister would felicitate these women commandos who had excelled during the training. Jayalalithaa launched the first-ever all women police station way back in 1991 and since then more than 100 stations had been set up in the state. Bureau Report
