Vadodara, Oct 28: A delegation of Pakistani
fishermen, camping in India, has strongly urged the fisheries
ministry in Sindh province to resolve the issue of release of
93 Pakistani fishermen from India before October 31, failing
which they would return.
The delegation leader Abuzar Mariwala told reporters today that
he had a telephonic conversation with the minister of Sindh
province in Pakistan, Sardar Mansurkhan Pawar, who assured him
to take up the matter with the federal government in
Islamabad.
India had communicated to Pakistan on October 14 its willingness for simultaneous release of 93 Pakistani fishermen from India and 89 Indian fishermen from Pakistan jail and had asked Pakistan to fix the date of their departure.
According to Mariwala, the minister, who is also chairman of the Fisheries Cooperatives Society Ltd in Pakistan, has assured him to resolve the issue very soon, possibly before October 31.
Because of this, the delegation delayed their departure from India till October 31 instead of today.
The failure of Pakistani authorities to take a decision on the issue has worried them as the month of Ramzan has started and they want to be in Pakistan during this holy month, Mariwala said.
