Ayodhya, Oct 17: With efforts for avoiding a showdown apparently not making much progress, hundreds of Ram bhakts are said to have slipped into Ayodhya for the VHP's 'sankalp sabha' today. The Ram bhakts marched to the temple town from Faizabad early this morning through the railway track despite the presence of heavy police force.
Hundreds of them were arrested, but majority of them entered into Ayodhya and have spread throughout the town, reports said. Security forces had to use mild force to disperse a stray crowd of Ram bhakts at Ayodhya railway station this morning even though police sources refused to confirm.
The Ram bhakts had also damaged a government bus near Sant Dhaman Kund and squatted on the street after some Ram bhakts from Maharashtra were arrested by the police.
There are reports that hundreds of Ram bhakts had blocked the railway track near Acharya Narendra Dev Nagar railway station between Ayodhya and Faizabad. The situation in the temple town appears to be quite tense and the whole town had been converted into a virtual police camp.
According to reports, crowd of Ram bhakts are building on the border of Faizbad and Ayodhya and security personnel were finding it difficult to control them. Bureau Report
