Thiruvananthapuram, July 18: Kerala Assembly today unanimously passed, without any discussions, two bills seeking to increase the monthly allowances and pension of MLA's. The Kerala Payment of Salaries and Allowances (amendment) Bill 2003, among other things, seeks to sanction a constituency allowance of Rs 2500 per month to ministers, leader of opposition, chief whip and deputy speaker, enhances the constituency allowance of MLA's from the present Rs 2500 to Rs 5000 and minimum travelling allowance from Rs 4500 to Rs 7500. The Kerala Payment of Pension to Members of Legislature (amendment) Bill 2003 besides seeking to enhance the rate of pension of different periods, also proposes to increase the limit of maximum pension to which a member was eligible, from Rs 7500 to Rs 12,500.
Pleas of employees should be 'considered immediately': Jaya Chennai, July 18: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today said the review petitions of nearly 1.70 lakh dismissed Tamil Nadu government employees vis-a-vis their reinstatement should be "considered immediately". "The petitions should be considered immediately after observing due procedures and following the principles of natural justice," she said in a statement here.
The Chief Minister said she has also ordered that each individual should be given an opportunity by serving a notice, followed by a personal enquiry. "This process would soon start," she added.
