Power ministers of Northeastern states have decided they would set up state and district level advisory committees to monitor all rural electrification schemes, according to Arunachal Pradesh power minister Lijum Ronya. The decision was taken in a meeting in Delhi recently in line with union power ministry's instructions to the Northeastern states to put in place administrative infrastructure to monitor rural electrification schemes, Ronya said in a statement in Itanagar on Thursday.
During the meeting, the union power secretary had agreed to release a sum of Rs eight crore for Accelerated Power Development Programme (APDP) to Arunachal Pradesh in place of Rs 1.20 crore earmarked earlier, the minister said. Ronya said he broached the issue of proper power allocation from Ranganadi hydro-electric project, scheduled to be commissioned later this year, to the Northeastern states, in the Delhi meeting.
