Lisbon, Dec 01: Lisbon High Court today granted extradition of underworld don Abu Salem’s wife Monica Bedi to India. The court had earlier stayed the move. The official communication was received by the CBI today, agency sources said here.
CBI, which has been for long trying to get Abu Salem and his wife in its dragnet, had appealed against the stay of extradition.

The order was issued after the Portuguese Supreme Court asked the high court to review the order of trial court which had quashed a CBI petition for her extradition to India.
A little known Bollywood actress Monica was also awarded a two-year jail term by a lower Portuguese court for entering and staying in the country on forged documents. The court also held Salem "guilty" of three offences, including entering the country on forged documents, and awarded him four-and-a-half year jail term.
The Portugal court had said that India would have to guarantee that it would not give the death penalty to the don in case of his extradition. India has already agreed to the condition. Monica Bedi is now likely to appeal against the decision in the Portuguese Supreme Court.
