Paraguay are sweating over the fitness of defender Denis Caniza, who is troubled by an injury to his right knee.
Juan Carlos Franco will take his place if he fails to recover in time. Paraguay, who lost 3-1 to Spain in their last match, must beat Slovenia and hope that South Africa lose to Spain to have a chance of advancing to the second round. Slovenia are already out of the World Cup after suffering defeats against Spain and South Africa in their opening two games.
And they must cope without injured defender Alexander Knavs.
Sweeper Marinko Galic, who missed the South Africa game, is set to return.

Group B is full of relative strangers and this is the fourth game out of six where the two teams have never met before. Even the other two have only seen one previous meeting each.
As to what this match holds in store, well Slovenia were among the free-scoring entertainers of Euro 2000.

Paraguay gained a reputation for a strong defensive game at France 98, so much will depend on what is still at stake.
