Raipur, Dec 01: Naxalites today forcibly took away electronic voting machines (EVMs) in eight polling booths in Bijapur assembly constituency in Bastar district.
Raipur, Dec 01: Naxalites today forcibly took away five electronic voting machines (EVMs) in Bijapur assembly constituency in Bastar district.
Voting was also deferred in eight polling stations in Bijapur constituency after election staff failed to turn up due to inclement weather.
One person was injured as Congress and NCP supporters clashed in Bilaspur constituency.
There were also reports of one EVM being looted from Konta constituency. Meanwhile, voting began early this morning. Electronic voting machines in all the 15,736 polling booths, also for the first time.
Chhattisgarh is going to the polls for the first time today, after it was carved out from Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 2000.
