Faizabad/Barabanki, Oct 11: Shiv Sena MPs Chandrakant Khere and Shivaji Mane and the party`s Uttar Pradesh unit chief Vijay Tiwari were among 100 party activists arrested on Friday as the state government cracked down ahead of the saffron outfit`s proposed meeting in Ayodhya today. Khere and Mane were stopped and nabbed at Ram Snehi Ghat, 90km from Lucknow, when they were proceeding from Lucknow to Ayodhya along with 100 Sena activists, police sources said. The Sena had sought authorities` permission to hold a meeting at Ramkatha Park in Ayodhya where prohibitory order was clamped keeping in view of the Sena`s programme as well as VHP`s proposed Ayodhya march on October 17. In Ayodhya, Tiwari and 100 Shiv Sainiks were arrested for causing "breach" of peace. They were shouting slogans demanding permission of tomorrow`s meeting. Faizabad district administration refused permission and clamped prohibitory orders in the entire district till October 31 ahead of the VHP`s proposed Ayodhya march. Entry of people is being allowed inside Ayodhya only after proper checking and identification and carrying of arms, explosives, sticks and tridents have been banned, District Magistrate Deepak Kumar said.
