Nasik, Aug 02: Mahants and Sadhus belonging to ten Akhadas based at the holy town of Trimbakeshwar, about 29 km from here, have withdrawn their boycott of the royal bath--slated to be held on August 12, 27 and September 7, Paramananda Saraswati, national president of Shree Shambhu Dashnam Juna Akhada, said here.

"The decision was taken at a meeting with district Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ravindrakumar Singhal, held to review security arrangements during royal procession and bath", Saraswati told reporters yesterday.
"We are opposing central government for its move to take over lands of Hindu mutts, temples and hence had decided not to participate in the flag hoisting ceremony at Kushavart held on July 30", he said.
Actually, the flag hoisting ceremony is the responsibility of the Purohit Sangh and not of Sadhus, who only participate in the royal bath, he added.
A lot of developmental work in Akhadas was incomplete and the Maharashtra government had not allotted adequate funds to Trimbakeshwar, hence we staged a demonstration in front of deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal during his visit on July 30, Saraswati added.
