"We are happy that more than 1,60,000 Tata Indicom customers will benefit from this enlarged footprint and they can start using their phones in large parts of NCR area immediately," Rajiv Burman, chief operating officer of Tata Teleservices said in a statement here.
This means that Tata Indicom subscribers will be able to use the same Tata Indicom mobile phone and mobile number in NCR area - Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad.
Announcing the extension of its service into NCR, the statement said "to begin with, Tata Indicom has fine tuned its existing cell site network to ensure that 1,60,000 mobile customers in Delhi now get improved outdoor coverage which will extend to large parts of Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad."
"Tata Indicom will grow at a faster clip since the combination of lowest handset cost, best tariffs, 15 second pulse and almost 65 per cent saving in the tariff will be attractive not only to new customers in NCR but a better value proposition for Delhi customers," Burman said, adding that the company is also planning to set up 50-75 towers in the next three to four months for increased coverage.
Last week, Reliance had announced it would soon provide fully mobile services on its nationwide WLL network, beginning with roaming facility in seven circles including Mumbai and Delhi from tonight.
