Information and Communication Technologies has the potential to create 1.1 million jobs in the country by 2008 in the IT-enabled services arena, if there is flexibility in labour and product markets, as per a latest estimate. "ICT can create 1.1 million jobs in India by 2008 through expansion of IT-enabled services compared to 23,000 in 1998-99, if there is flexibility of labour and product markets," according to a paper on "Employment Dynamics in Information Economy" prepared for an upcoming International Labour Organisation (ILO) workshop.
