New Delhi, Sept 02: The BJP today kept its cards close to the chest on the stand on vote of confidence to be sought by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh assembly on September eight. "The party has not decided yet whether to be present on September eight when the confidence vote is taken. But, we will play the role of Opposition," party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here.
Asked whether the party would issue a whip to its MLAs to vote against the confidence vote, he said "all this would be finalised on that day. BJP will play the role of a constructive opposition party."
Meanwhile, the confidence vote in U P assembly has forces re-scheduling of the meeting of top central leaders of BJP with those from the state. It has been preponed to September five, he said.
The meeting, to be attended by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and party president M Venkaiah Naidu among others, will draw up the course of action in the assembly and would be attended by state leaders including Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh, state BJP president Vinay Katiyar, U P in charge Kalraj Mishra and BJP legislature party leader Lalji Tandon, Naqvi said.
