Mumbai, Sept 22: The Mumbai High Court will hear today a bunch of petitions filed by film-maker Rakesh Roshan, his son Hritik and father-in-law J Omprakash seeking to quash a lower court order which directed police to probe cases of cheating registered against them.
Earlier, Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice V M Kanade had restrained police from arresting the trio till today.
The Roshans and J Omprakash are locked in a legal battle with Jayantilal Gada of M/S Popular Entertainment Network who has filed six cases against them for allegedly cheating him in regard to merchandising of Hindi films.
The petitioners moved the High Court praying for quashing the order of a Magistrate who ordered police to probe cases of cheating registered against them by Jayantilal Gada.

On the other hand, Gada prayed that the court had no jurisdiction to hear this matter under Article 226 of the Constitution.

He alleged that the Roshans and J Omprakash had committed breach of agreements with regard to merchandising of films.

Earlier, the High Court had suggested the parties go for an out-of-court settlement. Accordingly, they met on August six but could not work out a compromise and decided to follow the legal course. Roshans were represented by lawyer Dipesh Mehta while Ashok Sarogi appeared for Gada.

The Roshans had entered into agreements with M/S Popular Entertainment network for mechandising their past and future films, including "Kaho na pyar hai."

J Omprakash also entered into agreements with the same company for marketing films made by him. However, dispute arose over payments.
