Whoopi Goldberg, Seth Green, Ben Stiller, George Lucas, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Joel McHale, Josh Groban, Governor Jerry Brown, and Nancy Pelosi paid rich tributes to the late actor, six weeks after the beloved comedian took his own life, reports suggest.

Williams' longtime friend Billy Crystal, opened the 'Celebration of Life' with a tearful tribute at the landmark Curran Theatre in San Francisco.

Bonnie Hunt, Bobcat Goldthwait and Whoopi Goldberg also spoke, as did William's widow Susan Schneider, 50, and his three kids Zak , 31, Zelda, 25, and Cody, 22.

"It was a true celebration from beginning to end. It was emotional, but it was also filled with incredible laughter," a source said.

Williams' three kids went up on stage last and spoke individually.

Attendees were given wristbands that included an image of a hummingbird and the message "Love the stillness of life".

Mourners also including Williams' 'Mork & Mindy' co-star Pam Dawber, cyclist Lance Armstrong, director George Lucas and actors Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman gathered and heard a musical tribute from Stevie Wonder with the Glide Memorial choir.

Seth Green, Eddie Izzard, Penny Marshall, Bette Midler, Joel McHale, Jeff Bridges, Josh Groban, Marlo Thomas and Ben Stiller also turned out to pay their respect.

A reception followed at the nearby Westin St Francis Hotel.

Williams passed away on August 11 at age 63 in a death quickly ruled a suicide by hanging.

His grieving wife later revealed that the legendary comedian had been struggling with deep depression, anxiety and a secret diagnosis of Parkinson's.

He was cremated after an autopsy, and a death certificate said his family planned to scatter his ashes in San Francisco Bay off the coast of Marin County.
