Outlawed body issues death threat to Bangla home minister

The Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) in a handwritten
press release faxed to several newspapers yesterday also
threatened not to spare any minister, police officer or any
bureaucrat and their families for torturing the kith and kin
of well-wishers of the party, the daily star reported today.
The threat came as law enforcing agencies began a special anti-crime drive the south-west of the country with a "special modus operandi", four days ago to nab "extremists and hardened criminals" and recover illegal arms after a direction to the effect from the home ministry.
The Khaleda Zia government has faced a great deal of flak from opposition parties for the law and order situation in the country.
Main opposition Awami League recently released a list of 101 names who it called 'godfathers' of the ruling BNP-Jamaat alliance including Chowdhury, and his deputy Lutfor Rehman Babar. Bureau Report
