Mumbai: With Daniel Craig's return to James Bond franchise looking uncertain, actress Caterina Murino feels Tom Hiddleston would be the best from the list of actors running for the job.
Names of several actors like Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and Hiddleston among others have been going around to play the British spy on screen if Craig steps down.
Caterina, who appeared in the 2006 James Bond film 'Casino Royale' as Solange Dimitrios, feels Hiddleston could be perfect for the role.
"For me, it is Tom Hiddleston. I love him. I have seen so many of his performances and even physically (he is perfect). Yesterday I read a list of many other actors who can be bond too but for me it is only Tom," Caterina told PTI.
"But apparently Sam Mendes in an interview said there is no one who will feature as bond from the list," she added.
Craig had earlier said that he would rather "slash" his wrists than play Bond again. The Italian actress says she understands why the 48-year-old actor may not be willing to go back to the character.
"The role requires a lot of hardwork. I think that's why in an interview he said that he would rather slash his wrist. The role is very intense. To go back and do it, is tough. I did a two-film series called 'XIII: The Conspiracy'.
"I loved the role and it became such a huge success that the French and the Canadian decided to the series. I went back three years later to do the same role, and I didn't know what more can you add to the same role. So this could be one of Daniel's huge stress, to go back and do the role again," she said.
The 38-year-old "Voice from the Stone" actress also does not rule out the chances of a female James Bond in the future.
When asked if that could be a possibility, she said since Barabara Broccoli, producer of the Bond films starring Pierce Brosnan and Craig, was "so ahead of times", it can happen.
"You know, it can be. Barbara in the years has been so advance in her approach, she has really been ahead of times even when it comes to having Bond girls, so why not."
Caterina, meanwhile, is all set for her Bollywood debut in 'Fever'.
The suspense-thriller, starring Rajeev Khandelwal and Gauhar Khan, has been directed by Rajeev Jhaveri.
