Dhar, Dec 23: Demanding that the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh waive off electricity bills of farmers and other sections of the society as promised by the Congress government earlier, leader of opposition Jamuna Devi said failing this Congress would launch a statewide agitation. "As the farmers and other weaker sections of the society were not getting electricity, but were getting power bill regularly, the then Congress government had decided to waive off the bills amounting to Rs 800 crore", she said in a statement issued here.
However, she expressed anguish over the fact that the new government had not shown any interest in this regard in the recent Governor's address to the maiden session of the newly constituted house, it said.
If BJP failed to waive off the power bill, Congress would launch a statewide agitation, the statement added.
