Motihari (Bihar), July 17: Three Maoist Communist Centre activists were arrested from Madhuchapra village of Bihar's East Champaran district in connection with the large-scale destruction of rail tracks in north Bihar leading to the derailment of four trains on Monday night, police said today. Another MCC activist was arrested from Muzaffarpur district yesterday.
On a tip off, the police intercepted a jeep on NH 28 near Mohana Road Bridge last night and arrested three MCC activists, East Champran Superintendent of Police Kamal Kishore Singh said. The SP said further raids were being conducted in the district to flush out more ultras.
The large-scale destruction of railway tracks by ultras to enforce their July 15 Tirhut and Mithilanchal bandh against alleged police brutalities had resulted in derailment of four trains under Samastipur division of East Central Railway. Train services resumed yesterday after remaining disrupted for over 24 hours because of derailments and uprooting of signals at different places by the ultras. Bureau Report
