Bhopal, Dec 08: Within hours after taking oath as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti today announced that a white paper on the state's economy would soon be brought out along with an action plan for development. "We will soon bring out a white paper on the state of the economy together with an action plan showing the road map to development in all sectors," she told reporters at her first press conference after occupying the high office.
Bharti said a brief introductory meeting of the cabinet was held this evening and a detailed discussion on the proposed white paper and the action plan would be held at its next meeting.
Effective and lasting solutions to problems like bad roads, power crisis and water shortage would be incorporated in the action plan after wide-ranging deliberations, she said.
To a query, the Chief Minister said she "is not vindictive in nature but mistakes committed by anyone and laxity in duty cannot be overlooked in a democracy."
Asked about corruption charge levelled by her against her predecessor Digvijay Singh, Bharti skirted a direct reply saying she would appear before the court during hearing of the defamation suit filed by Singh against her.
She said the portfolios of her ministers would be allocated soon and the schedule for winter session of assembly finalised in day or two.
Bharti said her government would take steps for empowerment of women by ensuring them proper education and providing self-employment to make them self-sufficient.
