Kohima, Nov 21: The Nagaland unit of BJP today demanded deployment of more Central police forces in Assam and Bihar to quell the volatile situation arising out of clashes between the two linguistic communities. The new state president of the party, M Chuba Ao said BJP had already requested the central government to send sufficient forces to the two states immediately to bring the situation under control.
Lauding the initiatives taken by the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government, in which BJP is a coalition partner, Chuba Ao said Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was in constant touch with the Bihar government and had taken all measures to maintain peace and harmony in the state.
Apex tribal council Naga Hoho, while condemning the attacks on NE passengers passing through Bihar and subsequent violence in Assam, appealed to the people of the region to exercise restraint for maintaining social and communal harmony in the society.
Referring to retaliation in Assam, the apex council said as the region had already enough troubles, the present conflict arising out of the Bihar incidents should be controlled immediately to let the people of all communities to co-exist.
