Srinagar, June 20: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Tara Chand today suspended BJP legislator Jugal Kishore for half an hour for hampering the proceedings of the house during Question Hour.
"We will not permit anyone to disrupt the proceedings of the house as a lot of business has to be finished," he said.
"We are spending huge amounts of money on running the assembly. Hundreds of security personnel are posted around. Officers from the secretariat are here," the Speaker said.
Kishore was demanding a statement from the government on implementation of Wazir Commission report on reorganisation of the state. The question was initially raised by Sawhney as soon as the house assembled for the day's proceedings. The Speaker directed Sawhney to take up the matter in the coordination committee of the coalition government as his party was a partner in it.
But Kishore, who was briefly joined by Manjeet Singh (BSP), Balwant Singh (NPP) and Ashwani Sharma (Independent), rushed to the well of the house and started shouting slogans, stalling the proceedings for 15 minutes.
M Y Tarigami (CPM) and Moulvi Abdul Rashid (IND) tried to persuade Kishore to take his seat but in vain. Finally, Sharma managed to persuade Kishore to walk out of the house upon which the speaker directed the watch and ward staff of the assembly not to allow him in till tomorrow.
Sawhney, supported by minister of state for parliamentary affairs A R Veeri and Ajay Sadhotra (National Conference), asked the Speaker to let Kishore in, which he granted.
