New Delhi, June 04: Heat wave intensified in several parts of the country today claiming 50 lives, mostly in the worst hit Andhra Pradesh, to take the toll so far to 1,095 even as the weather office forecast no respite from the rising temperature in the next few days. Forty five more people died in Andhra Pradesh which alone accounts 1,045 deaths in the heat wave.

Streets wore a deserted look as people preferred to stay indoors in the state and most parts of the northern region where temperatures soared further to break yesterday`s season`s highest.

Delhi recorded the highest so far of 45.6 degrees celsius, five above normal.

With 46.2 degree celsius Kanpur registered its highest in the last eight years while Allahabad sizzled at 46.5 degrees.

Two persons each died in the heat wave in Punjab and Haryana where a number of cities including capital Chandigarh, Hisar, Ambala, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded the highest temperature of the season.
Hisar was the hottest with 47.2 degrees followed by Patiala with 45.6 degrees, Ludhiana 45.4 degrees, Ambala 45 degrees and Chandigarh 44 degrees.

In Rajasthan the blistering heat continued for the second week with Churu and Dholpur hottest with 48 degree celsius each followed by Ganganagar and Kota with 47 degrees, Pilani and bikaner with 46 degrees and capital Jaipur and Ajmer with 45 degrees.
