Police bid to mellow down serious offence: The Pioneer
Lucknow, July 16: Just to control the crime rate in the state capital, the district police registered the case of the clash between two groups of students in the State Ayurvedic Mahavidalaya in Tudiyaganj as a non-cognizable offence and later said that since both the parties had reached an agreement, no action was taken against them. The incident took place over a petty dispute in the hostel mess during dinner on Monday.
Lucknow, July 16: Just to control the crime rate in the state capital, the district police registered the case of the clash between two groups of students in the State Ayurvedic Mahavidalaya in Tudiyaganj as a non-cognizable offence and later said that since both the parties had reached an agreement, no action was taken against them. The incident took place over a petty dispute in the hostel mess during dinner on Monday.
According to police spokesman AK Singh, the mess of the hostel at State Ayurvedic Mahavidalaya in Tudiyaganj under the Bazar Khala police station was managed by hostel inmates by selecting a mess manager. The mess manager looked after the expenses and controlled the quality of the food served to inmate. AK Singh said that some students mess manager Surendra Prasad and bring someone other person in his place as they maintained that the quality of the food served to them was not good.
AK Singh said that on Monday night during the time of dinner, Prashant Kumar Pandey, a hostel inmate, raised objection over the poor of quality of food and demanded the other inmates to change the mess manager. When Surendra Prasad and his friends Deena Nath Ram and Sanjeev Kumar asked Prashant to keep quiet, the latter went back to hostel and after few minutes, he along with other hostel inmates, identified as Govind Singh, Rajesh Singh and Sunil Rai reached the mess. They were armed with sticks, rods and sharp-edged weapons. The accused attacked Deena Nath, Surendra and Sanjeev in which all the three were injured. Prashant, who was hit back by some inmates, was also injured in the state. Later the hostel staff informed the incident to the Bazarkhala police, subsequently which the incharge of the Aishbagh police outpost incharge RN Singh went to enquire into the matter. However instead of taking any cognizance of the matter, he took the application from both the parties and registered the case as non-cognizable offence.
