Kolkata, July 15: About 100 Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists today held a protest rally in front of the main gate of the Dakshneswar Temple in North 24-Parganas district protesting against the local civic body's reported move to impose pilgrims' tax on the visitors of the temple. VHP sources alleged that the parishad activists would resist any move to impose such tax on the pilgrims by the Kamarhati municipality to realise 'entry tax from the visitors from August 8'.

''The Left Front government has already started realising tax from the Hindu pilgrims from Sagar Islands and at the Shiva Temple at Tarakeswar, and regretably there has been no protests'', sources alleged. The protestors later dispersed peacefully.
