Hyderabad, Oct 02: Andhra Pradesh government today ordered a probe into the security lapses which led to the assassination attempt by naxalites in Tirupati on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was flown here by a special aircraft.
As the powerful blasts exposed chinks in the security system and raised doubts over its efficacy, security advisor to the government, S Subrahmanyam has been asked to go into the lapses and suggest measures for "fool-proof" arrangements, officials said.
Subrahmanyam, a retired IPS officer, has since left for the site where mines exploded blasting Naidu's bullet-proof Ambassador car in the foothills of the famous Venkateswara shrine.
The Chief Minister, who escaped with fractures on his right hand and collar bone and minor injuries on his chest and nose in the blasts triggered by outlawed People's War Group, was flown in here by a special aircraft and driven to his residence. He is being treated by a panel of doctors.
The Chief Minister, with his hand in plaster, walked out of the aircraft down the ladder and got into his bullet-proof car waiting at the tarmac of Begumpet Airport here to head for his home. BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu and Union Minister of State Ch Vidyasagar Rao met the Chief Minister at the airport. Bureau Report
