Tirupur, Sept 04: DMK president M Karunanidhi today said his party was not in any electoral pact with Congress, but asserted that both parties shared common views on opposing the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu. Replying to a question on the relationship between his party and Congress in Tamil Nadu, Karunanidhi told reporters that it was not an electoral alliance with Congress. But, Congress, Left parties, PMK, MDMK and DMK had come together to fight against the "undemocractic" rule of AIADMK.

It was only for the general council of the party to decide about the DMK's electoral alliance, he said. He said "total confusion" prevailed on the political situation in the country but it would 'definitely' be cleared. "But I cannot say when the confusion will clear".

Asked what was the reason for the confusion, he jocularly replied "because of the confusion".

On reports that AICC president Sonia Gandhi was invited for party's Villupuram conference, he said that he had already clarified on the issue and the newspaper, which had carried the report, had already published his clarification. When asked about the possibility of entering into alliance with CPI-M, which had yesterday announced that it would not have any truck with AIADMK, he said "it is their (CPI-M's) opinion. Election issue cannot be discussed now".
