Sofia (Bulgaria), Oct 23: Visualising terrorism, energy, drinking water and environment protection as emerging global challenges, President APJ Abdul Kalam today said the world should unite to evolve a strategy to solve these ills to ensure peace and prosperity for future generations. Rapid integration of global economic system at a time when "contrary, parochial and dangerous trends are fast emerging" also remains a challenge for all of us, especially the academia, Kalam told the students and teachers at the Sofia University here. "Changing times call for fresh solutions and answers... The early years of the 21st century, I believe, are going to be very important for the future course of human history," said Kalam, who arrived here on a two-day state-visit to the east European Nation. "Globally, there is a likelihood of a crisis developing in the areas of energy, drinking water and environmental protection. Terrorism is another challenge facing the world, which the younger generation will have to resolve" he said.
"Many nations have to come together to evolve a vision to solve these global issues so that future generations can live peacefully and prosperously," he said.
