Ranchi, July 26: Differences within BJP in Jharkhand over the domicile policy came to the fore for the first time today with a former party spokesman charging Chief Minister Babulal Marandi of handling the policy "ineptly" and precipitating a crisis in the state.
Accusing Marandi of ignoring senior party leaders while taking crucial decisions, former Pradesh BJP spokesman Prem Kataruka in a statement here alleged "a good number of BJP MLAs and MPs are disappointed and disturbed with Marandi's inept handling of the domicile policy which has led to frequent agitations in the state." He said the government's domicile policy had been "dividing" adivasis and non-adivasis in the state even as he sought intervention of BJP central leadership to prevent the situation from going out of hand.
Kataruka said he had written to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and party President Venkaiah Naidu, urging them to intervene and "save the current situation from going out of control".
